Peace is the most courageous, the most practical, the most necessary pursuit of all.
The United Nations was created as a place where all nations can come together to solve problems that no country can solve alone. From eradicating smallpox to healing the ozone layer to preventing a third world war, over the last 80 years the UN has led the way to some of humanity’s greatest triumphs. At the General Assembly in September, Secretary-General Mr. Antonio Guterres reminded member countries: “At a time when the principles of the Organization are under assault as never before, we must not only defend the United Nations, but strengthen it, in order to renew the foundations of international cooperation, and to ensure we can deliver for people everywhere. The only way forward is together.”
